What a beautiful day it turned out to be. 44 fishermen braved the cold this morning to fish The Lake Hickory Winter Trail. Today's winners were "Bigfoot" Rick Hedrick and "Uncle" Bob Bolick with 10.66 lbs for $500. They also won sidepot of $825. 2nd place was Tony Davis and "Bruiser" Tim Bowman with 9.78 lbs for $350. 3rd place was Keith Poovey and Garrett Poovey with 9.64 lbs for $180. 4th place was TLC Pro Staffer Chad McKinney and Dennis"Luther" Combs with 8.84 lbs for the $20 gift card to Captain's Galley. By: Roger Holtsclaw  138 pounds, 6 ounces. That is the record the heaviest all-time winning weight in a B.A.S.S event. This record was set on Lake Eufaula, Alabama in 1969. An amazing accomplishment that hasn't been bested in 50 years. The win, however, only garnered a $2600 payday for Honeycutt. Organized bass fishing was still in its youth, and did not have the great paydays we see today. In fact, the first Bassmaster Classic was not held until 1971. Even though it was cold, and ended up a wet day for the Lake Hickory Winter Trail, 61 fish anglers competed. This qualified the trail for Skeeter money once again. 1st place was Billy Gunter and Patrick with 8.56 lbs for $550 and big fish weighing 4.30 lbs for $305 and sidepot of $1,350. Billy was also signed up for the TLC Fishing newsletter so he won $25 Lunker bucks.
